The blue dumpster is sitting right next to our boulevard. Hmm...what's a girl to do once the construction boys have loaded up their work gear and left for the night??? HEE HEE HEE. I ain't too PROUD! I went dumpster diving!! Oh yeah~~>you read that right. I pitched scrap pieces of wood out on to the grass and my boys ran them back to the house. Now don't go getting all crazy thinking I'm teaching my kids bad things. It isn't a whole lot different then placing a "discarded" piece of furniture in your vehicle and driving it on home! =)
Here's some of the LOOT:
blocks and blocks of scrap wood.
So I took a longer piece and painted it with Krylon's Watermelon:
I created an Up Words & On Words vinyl design and used my Silhouette to cut the design out in black vinyl.
I cut it twice on one piece of vinyl since I had to use an 8.5" wide piece anyway.
I applied the design to the wood using a hinge method.
Once the vinyl was on and secure, I added a layer of green paint mixture over the lettering. I created the color using Fern Foliage craft paint, Jericho green from Ace Hardware and a little Besalt also from Ace Hardware. When that coat dried I removed the vinyl lettering. And of course...forgot a picture.
I sanded it with fine grit sandpaper. I used Black Soot Distress Ink on the edges. Then, I added "sweet" and "time".
HERE it is:
It's pretty thick (2") so it could be a shelf sitter on the mantle,
hung on the wall or placed in a plate stand.
However you choose to display it...IT is oh.so.sweet.summer.time.cute!
Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!
