Thrift Store Pedestal Photo Holder

I have had these random thrift store pieces for a while now and decided to redefine them into the FUN~ness I had purchased them for. I'm not real sure the technical name so I'll deem it a Pedestal Photo Holder. It was inexpensive and very easy to make.

Here's what you will need:
wooden plaque
finial
(or candle stick holder will work too)
E6000 glue, hot glue, or gorilla glue
cordless drill
paint and/or stain
mini clothes pin or equivalent (lol)
extra decorations you'd like to add

Away we go...

Pedestal Photo Holder:
(these have been all over blog land,
thank you to those who have made them before me)
I started out with these thrift store finds:

(except the mini clothes pin, I had that already)

~>see the hole in the bottom of the plaque board? I pre-drilled that! Oh yeah!
Then I mixed BM's Spring Meadow and a blue of my own making and painted the finial and the plaque.
I didn't sand and I didn't prime.
Once dry, I used Walnut Distress Ink (which is getting overused and old) and distressed the edges, the front and the finial. I also used it to stain the mini clothes pin. Once that dried, I used E6000 and glued the clothes pin onto the front of the plaque. I dug out a metal flower like "whatchamacallit" I had that I purchased at our local ReStore.
It was brass so I painted it with Burnt Umber craft paint and then dry brushed it with the paint color I mixed. =)
I added the finial to the plaque via my pre-drilled hole. Oh yeah! And glued the metal flower like "whatchamacallit" to the front of the finial.

And here is how it turned out:

Yes, the photos are blurred. I know. I did that. ;)

I haven't decided if I love it or luke warm like it. So time will tell. What do you think of it??
