Picture frame upcycle

I found two of these 2 glass paned backless frames at a local thrift store. And I knew instantly they would be perfect for a little upcycle project featuring some Up Words & On Words vinyl. For custom vinyl or to see more of my designs check out my Etsy shop at http://www.upwordsandonwords.etsy.com/. You will also find this frame along with the other frame for sale.

I completely spaced out taking a picture of this frame pre-beautified. It was just a basic backless black frame with 2 panes of glass. FAB!

Here's what I did:
1. I sanded with fine sand paper to create a little grit.
2. I didn't prime it...I added a 2 coats of a "custom created" turquoise blue acrylic paint.
3. Added a beige-ish acrylic color.
4. Sanded for an aged look exposing the original black paint and used mod podge to seal the paint.
5. I added black vinyl: breathe and the embellishment the top pane.
6. I added turquoise vinyl: LET GO to the bottom pane.
7. I cut a piece of burlap to fit the background and made three tiny fringed burlap rosettes and hot glued them to the top pane and the corner of the frame.

It turned out pretty elegant, soothing and carries a great reminder:
breathe LET GO
